The newest installment of Sonic will be a Nintendo exclusive releasing only for Wii U and 3DS. Sonic Lost World is scheduled for an October 29th release date here in the States, releasing this week in Europe. The team behind Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations have brought this new addition to life in an exciting new way. Unlike in Sonic Generations where you got to experience the many different styles from the previous Sonic games, in Lost World Takashi Iizuka goes on record saying they wanted to bring something new to the series.
“In 2011’s Sonic Generations, we have made a title which reviewed the 20 years history of Sonic, so for the next title, we wanted to create and deliver a new experience in the gameplay which we never had in this 20 years. So we challenged to drastically change the structure of the “environment”, which we didn’t change so much in the past.” Takashi Iizuka in an interview with NintendoLife.
Look at this vine, you dizzy yet?
“This game is like going into the rabbit hole in Alice in the Wonderland, an action game where you can experience many strange and fun experiences.” Takashi Iizuka in an interview with NintendoLife.
In Sonic Lost World, there will be intermixing of 2D side-scrolling like gameplay mixed with 3D action. It won’t be based on a level by level thing either. Iizuka has stated that some levels, while being 2D, will have 3D action aspects, and some 3D levels will have 2D aspects.
The really interesting thing is the rotating stages, which focus on speed and platforming mechanics. This game is full of many exciting experiences with a unique feel whether you play on the Wii U or the 3DS, so look forward to the upcoming release. Here is the complete NintendoLife interview.
