Nintendo launches an official Tumblr account

Last year, Nintendo went out of the way to break into the social media sphere with official Tumblr sites for Pokemon and SplatoonBoth sites have hosted funny gifs, video game news, and various other holiday-themed posts.

In the wake of the successful Tumblr pages, Nintendo of America has launched an official Nintendo Tumblr page that seems to be focused on Nintendo games as a whole.

So far, the only two posts are a Zelda-themed gif announcing the arrival of the Nintendo Tumblr page, and short post about the original Super Mario Bros. debut on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985

Considering the nature of the previous Nintendo Tumblr sites, it wouldn’t be a surprise if this one will make posts similar to that of its predecessors. Expect to see holiday gifs, news blurbs, and maybe the occasional spoof. What makes this site interesting, however, is the short description on the left that reads:

Welcome to the official Nintendo Tumblr! ESRB Rating: Rating Pending to Mature. May contain content inappropriate for children. Visit www.esrb.org for rating information.

The disclaimer seems kind of odd considering Nintendo’s reputation for being a so-called ‘children’s console’. However, the higher rating might mean that we can expect posts from games such as Xenoblade Chronicles XThe Legend of Zelda, and future M-rated titles!

Personally, I can’t wait to see what they have in store. If it means more Nintendo shenanigans, then I’m all for it! If you would like to follow the Nintendo Tumblr page for yourself, you can find it here.
