Nintendo Says Coronavirus Won’t Impact Switch Manufacturing

The statement comes after analysts predicted hardware delays all around.

Nintendo of America recently responded to concerns over the coronavirus impacting Nintendo Switch and accessory production. The company issued an official statement to Kotaku that runs counter to what some analysts have been saying about the possible effects of the outbreak.

In the statement, a NoA spokesperson said:

We can confirm that the manufacturing of some Nintendo products for the Japanese market has been delayed due to the impact of 2019-nCoV coronavirus outbreak.

Nintendo does not anticipate a significant impact on our broader global supply chain for systems and accessories at this time, and product sales in North America and Europe, including preorders, are not affected. We would like to express our concern and support for all those affected by the coronavirus during this challenging time.

Basically, even though nearly all video game hardware manufacturing takes place in China, Nintendo says it won’t cause any problems in the West, even when it comes to the special Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch system.

That’s good news for consumers looking to buy Nintendo products — but still not so good for The Outer Worlds on Switch
