No Man’s Sky Announced for PS4 at E3

Everything you need to know about No Man's Sky and its PS4 console debut announced at E3 2014.

Hidden amongst the announcements at E3 for larger titles, such as HaloCall of Duty, and Assassin’s Creed are a host of smaller titles often from indie developers. Some of the games spark a bit of interest, others look completely uninteresting, and still others look to be just the game you’ve been waiting for… and No Man’s Sky is that game.

No Man’s Sky was announced for the PlayStation 4 at this years E3 on Monday. Accompanying the announcement was a game trailer, revealing stunning environments and a gentle mix of untamed wilderness with sci-fi technology.

Developer Hello Games described the game as a “science-fiction game about exploration and survival in an infinite procedurally generated universe,” but that description doesn’t seem to do it justice. No Man’s Sky has a procedurally generated open world, dogfighting in space, dinosaurs, unique environments and landscapes from planet to planet… it’s a game I’ve wanted to see for a long time.

It’s also highly ambitious, and even Hello Games’s Managing Director Sean Murray said so. Murray said he has had encounters in the game that even he didn’t know existed, in a world where “every star in the sky is just the light of a sun, with its own solar system waiting for you to discover and adventure in.”

A release date has not been revealed quite yet for this game, but if Hello Games can pull off what is being expected, we could see a major success in No Man’s Sky.
