Painting Legend Bob Ross Joins the Gods of Smite in Patch 4.8

Just announced by Smite and Twitch.tv, this Bob Ross Smite bundle makes Sylvanus one "happy little tree."

One god in the SMITE Pantheon is getting a little happier today, as a brand new skin bundle has dropped in Patch 4.8 — the Bob Ross Sylvanus Bundle. Twitch and Hi-Rez Studios have partnered to bring the late painter into the world of SMITE — and the Roman God Sylvanus is the lucky deity that’ll be splashed in opulent watercolor for the foreseeable future.

Releasing today on PC and May 16 for console, Patch 4.8 doesn’t just bring the happy painter to the arena, but an all new Bob Ross watercolor loading frame, a paint splatter jump plate, and a Ross-inspired loading screen.

Todd Harris, Co-Founder and COO of Hi-Rez Studios, said that Ross’ paintings and artistic style was (and still is) the creative force behind many artists and creative minds that work within the gaming industry, which led the team to strike the current partnership:

“We’ve partnered with Twitch for special SMITE content in the past and this latest collaboration is something our dev team was really excited to work on. ‘The Joy of Painting’ inspired artists across the game industry and the Twitch livestreams introduced Bob to gamers worldwide. We’re grateful to the Bob Ross estate and Twitch for enabling us to re-introduce and honor Bob Ross given the global Smite audience.”

Players can purchase the Bob Ross Sylvanus Bundle for 700 gems from the SMITE in-game marketplace, or they can visit the Twitch.tv SMITE page and nab it for $9.99. Additionally, fans and players can watch the SMITE community and art teams vie for artistic supremacy by creating the penultimate Bob Ross-inspired painting. The event will air on the SMITE Twitch channel tomorrow, May 10 from 3 to 5 p.m. EDT.
