Pizza Hut Realizes the Obvious: Gamers Love Pizza

The ultimate gaming food is pizza, or so says Xbox Live users.

Nobody should be surprised at this news.

Pizza is the ultimate gaming food. You may disagree with that statement, but obviously, a great many consumers are all about ordering a tasty pie for gaming sessions. According to a Polygon report, Pizza Hut fulfilled over $1 million worth of pizza orders placed through their new Xbox Live app. They hit the lofty total in only four months. Said Pizza Hut director of public relations Doug Terfehr:

“It’s been a source of unbelievable growth for us. Just the explosion of people who wanted to download it, experiment with it, play with it with Kinect. As soon as we did one, everyone was contacting us to do the next [one].”

The company didn’t say if they’d deliver a pizza-ordering app to the next-gen consoles, but given those results, we’re willing to bet it’s coming. Terfehr added that gaming is definitely a “sweet spot for the pizza category,” which seems obvious. The app available on the Xbox 360 launched in April 2013 and it boasts the entire Pizza Hut menu. You can order with the controller, Kinect or via voice commands.

Pizza! Hell yes, order one!

Really, who’s shocked? You’re sitting there, all absorbed in a game, you don’t feel like getting up, you certainly don’t feel like leaving the house, and you’re sick of ineffectual snacks. You want real food. Of course, there are a million healthier alternatives to Pizza Hut, but then again, there aren’t many that are as fast or as convenient (unfortunately). Besides, it’s all the more attractive when you’ve got a gaming party going on; nobody’s going to turn down the idea of ordering a pizza, right?

I’m willing to bet it’s about ten times faster to just pick up the phone but hey, everyone loves electronic wizardry these days.
