PlayStation Plus Collection Closing Soon

The PlayStation Plus Collection will be closing soon, removing 19 games from the Essential tier.

Sony has announced that it will be shuttering the PlayStation Plus Collection. The complimentary, curated catalog of PlayStation 4 hits available to PS5 owners will disappear on May 9, 2023.

The news was announced on the PlayStation Blog as a small addendum accompanying the reveal of February’s PS Plus games lineup. Additionally, a short email was sent out to subscribers notifying them of the impending removal of the catalog from the service. Sony didn’t provide a reason for the move.

Though it will be leaving PlayStation Plus, you can still “redeem” the games in the collection in the same way you redeem monthly PS Plus games, “which will enable you to access those titles even after this date for as long as you remain a PlayStation Plus member,” according to Sony.

Revealed in September 2020 ahead of the PS5’s launch, the PlayStation Plus Collection provided owners of Sony’s next-gen console access to 19 games, all chosen as examples of the best titles available on the PlayStation 4.

  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Battlefield 1
  • Bloodborne
  • Call of Duty Black Ops 3
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
  • Days Gone
  • Detroit Become Human
  • Fallout 4
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • God of War (2018)
  • Infamous: Second Son
  • Monster Hunter World
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • Ratchet & Clank
  • Resident Evil 7
  • The Last Guardian
  • The Last of Us Remastered
  • Uncharted 4
  • Until Dawn

Though it’s a bummer these complimentary games in the Collection are disappearing as a bonus for future PS5 owners at the Essential tier, it’s worth noting that all of these games are available in the PlayStation Plus Premium tier, and many are included in the PS Plus Extra tier.
