Pokemon X and Y hype is just getting started! The release date has been confirmed, but new Pokemon and features still have yet to be confirmed. We've got a long wait.
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

I hope you’ll have a Nintendo 3DS handy come this autumn as Pokemon X and Y are preparing for an October 12 release in North America! This was confirmed during this morning’s Nintendo Direct, which also had a few extra Pokemon tidbits to share.

Fairy type Pokemon have officially been confirmed as of this morning’s Nintendo Direct. Marill, Gardevoir, and Jigglypuff have all been confirmed as being Fairy type Pokemon along with Eevee’s new evolution Sylveon. The rumors of this addition have been floating around for a few months, but this is our first official confirmation on Fairy types in Pokemon X and Y.

Two new Pokemon were also revealed: Vivillon, which looks like a butterfly and is a Bug/Flying type; and Noivern, who resembles a large bat and is a Flying/Dragon type. We will share more information on these new Pokemon as it comes.

Finally, as seen in the trailer in the header of this article, is the addition of Pokemon-Amie. This looks to be a new, more personal way to interact and bond with your Pokemon in-game using the 3DS camera and touch screen. Hopefully we will see more information on this and the other new additions to Pokemon X and Y later today during the Pokemon presentation at E3.

While we wait, fansite PokeBeach.com has some nifty screenshots of some new Pokemon at E3. Head over and check them out!
