Spiritual successors are all the rage nowadays. From Mighty No. 9 to Bloodstained, it seems that everyone is trying to release a reiteration of a beloved franchise.

And now, a new contender has reared its head: Prey for the Gods.

Of course, anyone familiar with Shadow of the Colossus will find the gameplay in this trailer familiar, as Prey for the Gods has a similar look and feel. The lone hero climbs an immense monstrosity in an attempt to kill it. The premise is so familiar that Prey of the Gods comes off as somewhat unoriginal. When I say that, however, I do not mean to dismiss the game – far from it.

Shadow of the Colossus was awesome, and a new game being inspired by an awesome game is hardly grounds for dismissal – in fact, with ten years having passed since the release of the PS2 classic, it seems like the perfect time to give the world some more titan-slaying goodness.

Prey for the Gods is coming to Windows/Mac at an undisclosed time.
