The Nintendo Direct on September 14 had more Mario announcements including a new trailer for Princess Peach Showtime. This was the first gameplay trailer we have gotten since the last one was just an announcement. The trailer revealed a new antagonist and the gameplay mechanics.
The trailer starts with Princess Peach going to a show at the Sparkle Theater. However, the new antagonist, The Wicked Grape and the Sour Bunch take over the theater and all of its plays. Peach has to team up with the theater’s guardian, Stella, to save the theater.
Princess Peach can use Stella’s Ribbon to attack members of the Sour Bunch. However, sometimes the ribbon won’t be enough.
We’re then introduced to the main mechanic of Princess Peach Showtime: transforming! Peach can transform into Sword Fighter Peach, where she can attack enemies to save the play. Detective Peach who can investigate clues and find out who stole items from the museum play. There are even more transformations, such as a pastry chef and a kung fu fighter. More transformations will be available. However, those have not been announced yet.
