Professor Layton and The New World of Steam Brings Older Luke

Professor Layton and The New World of Steam gets a new teaser that shows off an older version of Luke Triton.

Level-5 has shared some new footage of Professor Layton and The New World of Steam and it has a treat for series fans. Set one year after the events of The Unwound Future, Layton’s latest adventure will see him reunite with Luke Triton in the fictional town of Steam Bison, America. Due to that time lapse, Luke is now older and is even considered a detective across the pond.

Along with Luke’s new design, it was confirmed that the puzzle design will be handled by QuizKnock, a Japanese group that specializes in creating puzzles and riddles for various different forms of media. As far as the Japanese voice cast goes, Yo Oizumi will reprise his role as Layton while Luke is getting a new actor in the form of Mio Imada, likely due to the gap in time between releases.

While no gameplay is revealed here, it’s not hard to imagine how The New World of Steam will play. The series has always put a strong emphasis on its cinematic presentation mixed with head-scratching puzzles. While the implementation can sometimes be a little finicky, the series has always provided more than enough challenge and charm to overcome its flaws.

Currently, there is no release date for when Professor Layton and The New World of Steam will be out, but it is scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch. Hopefully, we can expect some kind of HD re-release for the rest of the series before this one materializes.
