Rabbit & Bear Announce Eiyuden Chronicle Rising, a Hundred Heroes Prequel

Both Rising and Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes will release on Xbox Game Pass when they launch.

Rabbit & Bear Studios announced Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, a prequel to Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, during the Xbox/Bethesda E3 2021 showcase. Set for a 2022 release date, Rising explores the backgrounds of several characters with key roles in Hundred Heroes and uses a different format to do it.

Eiyuden Chronicle Rising takes place during the war that shapes the story of Hundred Heroes and is an action RPG instead of a turn-based RPG. However, it includes town-building mechanics as Hundred Heroes does, as you’d expect from Suikoden‘s spiritual successor.

Rabbit & Bear didn’t reveal much about the Eiyuden Chronicle story yet, but it’s proven to be much bigger than first anticipated. Studio lead Yoshitaka Murayama said:

We’ve been working hard on the Eiyuden Chronicle franchise and… we’re telling a rich story with the franchise, so much so that we couldn’t possibly tell it all within the confines of a single game.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising will release on Game Pass when it launches, as will Hundred HeroesHundred Heroes is also planned for release on other consoles in 2023, though the developers are keeping their options open for which consoles it will release on.
