Redfall’s Newest Story Trailer Delves Into Aevum’s “Thirst for Immortality”

Arkane's upcoming Redfall is all about players trying to retake the titular village from unruly vampires.

With Redfall’s release a little over a month away, Bethesda is getting fans ready for their trek to the game’s titular village with a brand-new story trailer. This trailer doesn’t quite reveal much in the way of new information, but it’s a solid primer for those that haven’t been religiously following all of the details for developer Arkane’s latest open-world title.

To give a quick recap, this trailer specifically delves into the history surrounding Aevum Therapeutics and the dastardly experiments it has been conducting. Set in the fictional town of Redfall, Massachusetts, you’ll team up and explore the ruins of the once-prosperous small island town to learn the truth behind the recent outbreak of supernatural forces.

For more on the game’s story, members of the Arkane team spoke with IGN about some of the more salient points. We reported on that here

There is also a decent look at the gameplay here, which has all of the typical Arkane-style that fans have come to expect. The gunplay looks as satisfying as ever and the creature designs are all creative and colorful.

The only real point of contention lies with Redfall’s always online requirement, which puts a big damper on single-player exploration. It was likely implemented to keep things co-op ready at the drop of a dime, but it could spell trouble in the future. We’ll just have to see.

Redfall will be released on May 2, 2023, for PC and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be available on Game Pass day one.
