Return to Greenvale: Deadly Premonition Director’s Cut Comes To PS3 Tomorrow!

MCV Pacific: "The original game was award winning by some, passed over by others, but if nothing else was a shining example of creativity, giving players murders to solve in an open-world suspense / horror setting."

On April 30th 2013, Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut comes out for PS3. Perhaps some of you have already played the original version that came out in North America in 2010. Maybe you’re staring at your screen thinking damn, I almost forgot about this. Well here’s your quick and last reminder; if you hurry up for today only you can still get the pre-order on Amazon that comes with exclusive Amazon only bonuses such as the Field-Ops Suit which increases HP and attack power.

Deadly Premonition is a psychological horror game known for its strangeness – to be putting it mildly. The game appears to have gone through a love/hate relationship with those who come to play it. Even just looking at the trailer could make you unimpressed by its visual and graphic quality, and some reviews have lashed out at its poor controls and sound effects. Nevertheless, the 2010 release reached cult status attributed much to it’s open world system and strange unpredictable game play. In the game, you play an FBI agent name York who is trying to solve a string of murders dubbed “Red Seed Murders” that happen in a small town named Greenvale. The town’s environment boasts real life nuances such as a 24 hour clock, weather cycles, cars that need gas, and paychecks that depend on the quality of the work you preform (just when you thought you could escape that).

The new release does promise a decent amount of new content for any fan of the game. Although according to the Guardian it still has some similar problems as the original, this new release includes a graphical overhaul (cough, cough) such as 3D support and improved lighting and shading. New scenes and additional story line have been tacked on to this “Director’s Cut” which makes one ponder if this is how Rising Star Games wants Deadly Premonition to be played. DLC via PSN is available as well including new costumes and the ability to collect trophies.

All in all this leaves only one question remaining – Isn’t it time you drank the coffee?

I'm a 29 year old Jersey girl who loves games. I currently work full time, volunteer part time at this awesome non-profit called Amman Imman, and go to school part time. I also train in jiu jitsu. So time isn't quite on my side (unlike that song says). I have been trying unsuccessfully for years to clone myself so I can devote one of me to boring stuff like working and laundry - thus allowing more time for gaming. I'm willing to offer large sums of imaginary money to any who can make this happen.
