R-Type Dimensions is remastered compilation of R-Type and R-Type II, which were originally released in Arcades in 1987 and 1989.

Since then, R-Type has been ported to many home consoles including the TurboGrafx 16, Sega Master System, Nintendo Game Boy, and Wii Virtual Console.

R-Type Dimensions offers the two games in their original, unaltered form – along with the option of remastered 3D graphics and audio. Players can switch between the original and remastered modes during gameplay at the touch of a button. Unlike the original games, R-Type Dimensions will allow for cooperative play with up to two players.

R-Type is a side-scrolling space shooter in the same genre as Gradius and Space Harrier. In comparison to its competitors, R-Type emphasizes difficulty and strategy. It is considered to be one of the one of the most difficult games in it’s genre.

R-Type Dimensions has been available on Xbox Live Arcade since 2009.
