According to rumors reported by Patrick Klepek at Kotaku, the upcoming RTS Halo Wars 2 will receive an open beta soon. According to Klepek, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb uncovered a leak which suggests that an open beta for the game will be announced and offered during E3 next week, from June 13th to June 20th. A subscription to Xbox Live Gold is required to participate in the beta.
It should be mentioned that the official page for Halo Wars 2 does not yet mention an open beta, nor a release date. According to the official site, the “exciting new strategy game packed with fast-paced action, massive battles, and an all-new Halo story” will be coming to Xbox One and Windows 10. It is being developed by Creative Assembly, the studio behind the Total War franchise, along with 343 Industries.
If these rumors are true, Halo and RTS fans will have the opportunity to try Halo Wars 2 for themselves next week, and perhaps the game will receive a release date at that time as well.
