UPDATE: Microsoft has officially denied the rumor of a Kinect-less Xbox One bundle. A representative of Microsoft issued this statement:

“We have no plans to introduce an Xbox One without Kinect. We believe in Kinect and the value it brings to both games and entertainment, and believe $499 is a great value for what consumers receive with their Xbox One.”

Original article:

How much will Microsoft do in order to stay in the fight in the console war and win back fans?  According to an anonymous source speaking to Inside Gaming Daily, it has been confirmed that the Xbox One will have a Kinect-less bundle available in 2014. Much like back in 2006, Microsoft will have two versions of the Xbox One, where the original bundle will sell for the $499 price tag, and the Kinect-less bundle will sell for $350 to $400.

If this story is true, then the damage from the public outcry against the Xbox One may be hurting Microsoft more than they are letting on, especially since this would be completely contradictory to their previous statements that the Xbox One is built around the Kinect and cannot work without it. Given the track record of Microsoft reversing their policies lately, this is not surprising.

So if you were on the fence about buying an Xbox One because of the Kinect requirement, would you reconsider if they go through with this? Comment below!
