SEGA announces Sonic Mania

An all new 2D adventure staring the blue speedster

It’s hard to believe it’s been 25 years since Sonic the Hedgehog graced the world of video games. He started in the acclaimed classic SEGA Genesis trilogy (and Sonic CD on the SEGA CD) before making his way into the 3rd dimension. Despite some solid titles like Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations, he still hasn’t quite got the handle of it(Sonic 06 anyone?).

Now, SEGA has decided to play to the hedgehog’s strengths and announced Sonic Mania — an all new 2D Sonic game coming Spring 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game is a combined effort from SEGA, Christian Whitehead, Headcannon, and PagodaWest Games. It will allow players to play through all new 2D Levels, as well as re-create some iconic levels, like Green Hill Zone.

Joining Sonic in his latest outing are his two pals Tails, the flying two tailed fox, and Knuckles, the echidna with all the powers of Sonic that can also glide and climb walls. Hopefully, we’ll hear more news about it as time goes on. Are you hyped for Sonic Mania? Leave comment below on how you feel.
