Shadow Era has been around for a while now, and has plenty of players worldwide that continue dueling and leveling in order to become the cream of the crop. This game is a free-to-play game, which also features a physical form of play with actual trading cards.

Players use the same rules as the digital version, which makes it easy for new players to practice, work with their decks, learn how to play their cards, and create their own strategy.

In order to show you a bit of what this game is about, I went ahead and started playing it, so let’s take a look at the my very first duel on the game.

As you can see, it is quite easy to learn and comes with good animations; I must say that I loved the soundtrack as well.

To get to the point, Wulven Game Studios is trying to raise $50,000 CAD through a Kickstarter Campaign to bring the Shattered Fates expansion to the game, which will add  200 new cards to the already existing 350, as well as:

  • Campaign modes for each champion
  • 3D Battlefields
  • An automated tournament system
  • A player auctions system
  • An improved deck builder
  • Full player profiles
  • Guilds & Leagues

“This really is more than just an expansion or a preorder. This is about bringing game to the next level.  We’re a small indy game studio – we don’t have a multi-million dollar budgets at our disposal and we don’t want to overcharge our players or make it pay-to-win. With the support of our fans, we’re confident we can stand up to other card games on any platform, while maintaining the generous free-to-play model. We have high value Kickstarter pledge rewards and 30 days of planned videos, spoilers, social media stunts and more! Hang on, this is going to be huge!”

These are the words from Shadow Era’s creator, Kyle Poole.

As you can see, if you are like me and never played the game before, this title is pretty awesome, fun to play, and easy to learn, but also keeps some space for some really worked strategies.

If you want to check this game out, just head over to the Shadow’s Era website. You can also download it for your iPhone or Android devices. Plus, if you enjoy it and want to contribute to bringing a new expansion to the game, go and do so on the Shadow’s Era Kickstarter Campaign.
