According to GameInformer, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS has surpassed a combined sale total of over 5 million. Super Smash Bros. for 3DS sold over 3 million copies, while Super Smash Bros. for Wii U sold over 2 million.
This makes Smash the fifth best selling game on the Wii U and the seventh best selling game on the 3DS.
Smash selling so many copies is no surprise. as it is a popular fighting franchise with many tournaments organized around it.
Nintendo also saw an increase in sales for 3DS systems during the month in June — over 39 percent to be exact. Kirby: Planet Robobot and Rhythm Heaven Megamix are both performing well, but probably not selling more copies than Smash Bros. We will not know the full numbers until the release of the NPD’s retail charts on July 21st.
Smash Bros.’ latest DLC came out back in February with new characters and costumes.
