Although it was announced just a few weeks ago, Sniper Elite V2 Remastered now has an official release date. The game will launch in both digital and physical formats on May 14 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It will release digitally for the PC on the same date.

The game is currently available for pre-order on PC and PS4 at various retailers, including Steam. Xbox One and Nintendo Switch pre-orders will go live on April 24.

While the game will cost $34.99, those who pre-order V2 Remastered will receive a 10% discount whether they buy it digitally or physically. Players that already own the original version of Sniper Elite V2 on PC can upgrade to the remastered version for $9.99.

Announced alongside Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition and a yet-to-be-named Sniper Elite 4 sequel, the remastered version of the series’ 2012 entry will feature 4K support and HDR support for the PC, PS4, and XB1, as well as updated graphics for many in-game models.

According to Rebellion, the game’s developer, this version of Sniper Elite V2 will specifically see upgrades to rendering, post-processing, textures, geometry, and lighting. Many of those updates can be seen in the side-by-side graphics comparison video at the top of this article.

Additionally, players will also find that Sniper Elite V2 Remastered will include a photo mode, seven new playable characters from the Zombie Army spinoff series, and all of “the additional content ever released for the game” for free.

Finally, the V2 Remastered will support 16-player online multiplayer, up from four-player in the original version; worthy of note is that the Nintendo Switch version will only support 8-player online multiplayer.

When it originally, released, Sniper Elite V2 received average marks from critics and fans alike. While it’s true that the series slightly improved with Sniper Elite 3 and took larger steps with Sniper Elite 4, V2 has cultivated a fervent following within the fanbase over the years.

As of this writing, Sniper Elite V2 has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, even if it is no longer available for purchase as the release of Remastered looms.
