Sony Announces Streaming Apps Integrated into the PlayStation 5

PlayStation 5 launches with several streaming apps and a dedicated Media space for a seamless viewing and listening experience.

PlayStation 5 has several popular streaming apps available directly at launch, Sony said in a new PlayStation Blog post. These media apps are integrated into the PS5 Media space and won’t require separate downloads as they do on the PS4.

At launch on November 12, PlayStation 5 will support:

  • Apple+
  • Disney+
  • Netflix
  • YouTube
  • Spotify
  • Twitch
  • Amazon Prime Video
  • Hulu
  • Peacock
  • MyCanal

More apps will be included alongside these, Sony said, but they weren’t mentioned in the list.

Note that subscription fees are still required for some of these services, as is a PlayStation Network account.

All these apps will be together in the new PlayStation 5 Media section and won’t require separate downloads. PS5’s Media section will live next to the Game section on the Home screen. Users can navigate between channels and apps with ease with a new smart TV-style Media Remote releasing October 30 for $29.99.
