This new version of KING’S KNIGHT, subtitled Wrath of the Dark Dragon, features a brand new story, a new world, and vertical scrolling gameplay in which players have to destroy enemies as well as obstacles to survive. The game features “job elements” and up to 4-player cooperative play.

In a press release, Square Enix says of the newly reinvigorated title:

“Fans and a new generation of players will be challenged by a level of difficulty that remains true to the original game.”

Square Enix also introduced a social media campaign in conjunction with the release of KING’S KNIGHT. Players can contribute to the campaign by joining the heroes of Final Fantasy XV in defeating giant bosses by “sharing to sites like Facebook and Twitter to reduce [bosses’] HP in the FINAL FANTASY XV x KINGS KNIGHT Giant Boss social campaign.” The campaign runs through September 29.
