A tagline like that is bound to catch your attention, and that’s what Square Enix hopes to do with the release of their new Murdered: Soul Suspect trailer.

The story has you placed in the shoes of Ronan O’Connor, a detective whose life is brought to an abrupt end by a mysterious, hooded killer. Now a spirit in the afterlife, O’Connor is forced to uncover the truth behind his own murder and find the killer in order to escape the limbo world known as Dusk.  The game lets you explore the town of Salem in order to find answers. Gameplay will have Ronan “battle demonic spirits to save your soul and uncover the shocking revelations about who is responsible for your death.”

Not much else is revealed on the official Murdered: Soul Suspect site except for a small gallery featuring two images from the trailer, as well as a page showcasing the town of Salem as the “Most Haunted City in America.”

First impressions from watching the trailer:

I’m yearning to know more!  The trailer is very dark, brimming with suspense, and leaves me wanting to unravel more of Ronan’s past.  The idea that you’re hunting for your own killer has me wondering about the kinds of ordeals Ronan will have to overcome in the game.

Murdered: Soul Suspect will be available for PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.

Let’s hope Square Enix has more information about this development during E3 next week.
