SteelSeries has officially released the Rival for preorder.

SteelSeries has just announced its new gaming mouse, Rival. SteelSeries has focused on three things when developing this amazing piece of work; performance, comfort and personalization.

“We’ve named our newest optical gaming mouse the Rival, because we believe that it meets and surpasses every other optical mouse in its price bracket on the market,” said Bruce Hawver, SteelSeries CEO.  “The new ergonomic shape and state of the art hardware deliver unmatched levels of precision, comfort and durability. Combining this level of hardware with new SteelSeries Engine 3 software, users will find an entirely new customization experience that redefines how a mouse can be configured.”

Performance:

SteelSeries has definitely upped its game with this mouse. Rival is equipped with the Avago ADNS 3310 optical sensor, which is one of the most advanced optical sensors out there. It also has more precise movements and a better tracking system, along with the SteelSeries engineered switches that last for over 30 million clicks.

Comfort:

SteelSeries went back to the drawing board for the Rival. Building off of the classic design, SteelSeries has created a mouse of comfort and style. It even has an anti-sweat coating that is direct injected, so it won’t just rub off like some sticker. The buttons are even designed so you don’t have to do “finger gymnastics” as the website puts it. The movement from button to button should feel natural, and that’s what the Rival has embodied.

Personalization:

You think you know customization? How about two independent lighting zones that are capable of 16.8 million colors, complete customization of the mouse and its many features, and a 3D printable nameplate for individuality?

Yes, I’d say that’s pretty customizable. The Rival comes with plenty of ways to show that this mouse belongs to you, but the software suite is the most important. It allows you to tweak even the tiniest details in your Rival, which to me is better than making your mouse light up blue–even if it is my favorite color.

From what I’ve heard, the SteelSeries Rival is a fine piece of machinery, now available for preorder. The mouse is only $59.99 which is very reasonable. Be sure to try it out if you’re looking for a new gaming mouse. For more information on the Rival, check out the SteelSeries website.
