Tamagotchi has been a bit under the radar since the 1990s, despite having a few new egg generations and even video games through the years. Tamagotchi L.i.f.e is bringing the franchise to iOS and Android devices, and may be just what you need if you’ve got the virtual pet itch.
Digital Spy reports this new iteration will have two modes of play: Retro Mode, which will have gameplay similar to the original eggs; and a more modern yet-to-be-named mode, with new ways to take care of your virtual pets and the ability to save.
Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. will also be sporting minigames along with unlockable wallpapers and themes — because who doesn’t like to unlock things?
One can only hope the mini-games will be as varied and as fun as those found in the Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop games for the original Nintendo DS.
Bandai Namco assures Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. will be available for download on the App Store soon; Android users will be able to nab it via Google play on February 14. There is an official YouTube channel for the upcoming app, but it falls squarely in the category of children’s programming. No gameplay to be seen here, folks!
