The U.S. chain-store is currently promoting the release of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe by kitting out their 650+ stores nationwide in a range of Mario-themed decorations.

You’ll find that a number of their shopping carts have been upgraded to “Super Target Karts” — made to look like the the games’ vehicles, which allow you to “play” as Mario, Luigi, or Princess Peach as you shop.

The promotion also decorates the stores’ entrances, making them look like the starting line in the racing games. Rigged with a sensor system, the entrances set off flashing lights and play the infamous countdown timer from the Mario Kart games whenever customers walk through the door, followed by the Super Mario theme tune.

Outside the store, you’ll be greeted by Mario and Luigi as Target’s usual red bollards have been transformed into the likeness of the famous duo.

The promotion only runs for a few short weeks, so head to your local Target as soon as possible if you want to experience the fun for yourself!

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is out on Nintendo Switch on April 28th.

Stay-at-home geeky mama that's been gaming since early childhood! I wanted to be Lara Croft when I grew up, but writing about video games seemed a little more realistic ;) I love action/adventure and horror games especially, and have a fondness for scouting out indie developers to see what treasures they have to offer the gaming world.
