Team Ico’s The Last Guardian is on Hiatus

It is a sad day for fans of Team Ico’s iconic projects, including Ico & Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian.

Jack Tretton, Sony Computer Entertainment of America’s CEO, stated in an interview earlier today at E3 that “The Last Guardian is certainly not going away, but it’s on hiatus right now.”

So I guess if you are an optimist, you could look at the bright side and hope that The Last Guardian in fact does come out in the foreseeable future, but from its bumpy track record, it’s  hard to tell.

Back when the game was announced at E3 2009, Team Ico released a proof of concept video to show just how beautiful the game is. Initially the game was to be released late 2011. Since then fans of the series have been chomping at the bit, but alas, still no game has come out. After many delays and the designer, Fumito Ueda, turned in his resignation, the odds that we will see this game any time soon seem slim.
