The Crew Brings Persistent World Gaming to The Racing Genre

The Crew promises sleek racing gameplay in a persistent world based off the United States.

This E3 seems to be all about open or persistent worlds, and perhaps the strangest addition to the ever-growing list of persistent world titles is Ubisoft’s The Crew. The title allows players to create their own vehicles and travel across North America taking part in criminal activity and heists.

Sound interesting yet?

The Crew and The Division were my personal highlights for Ubisoft’s press conference — perhaps my favorites reveals for E3 thus far. Both are entirely brand new IPs and feature persistent world gameplay, though their focuses are entirely different.

Aside from the massive map shown in the trailer above, The Crew also boasts dynamic social features to hop in and out of parties seamlessly to take on missions. How the system works is exciting, and we can hope the game plays just as well as it looks. If we’re lucky, we’ll see some hands-on reports from people on the scene soon.

The Crew is scheduled for an early 2014 release on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
