Let’s hope you got all your goodies from the fan-named “Loot Cave” in Destiny. A patch released on Thursday, September 25th shut down the location known for players farming loot. The hotfix addressed how much loot was available in the cave and also changed the respawn timer on the monsters in the caves in addition to several other locations across the game. The nerf on the cave was given an in-game narrative,
The Hive of the holy “Treasure Cave” have realized the futility of their endless assault on Skywatch and have retired to lick their wounds and plan their next attack.
The Treasure Cave got the name from the endless spawn of enemies from it. High level players could continue to attack the wave of enemies and reap the rewards of a randomized loot system. Bungie explained that the cave was meant to be an entertaining level in the game where players could enjoy the rush of killing, picking up loot, and hopefully surviving the next wave. Instead, players were effectively aiming at the opening and holding down the trigger.
While this may upset some players who are perfectly fine with the long dredge of farming, this is an expected fix when it’s such a well-known source of earning loot with little effort. The patch also has additional fixes that you can view here.
