‘The Greeviling’ Makes its Way to Dota 2

The Greeviling has swooped down upon the Frostivus-celebrating Dota 2 community, and people who participated in the Diretide event have a chance to make use of their cute-ugly Greevil couriers outside of having their mid-laner hog it. Stop hogging it, seriously. I need my Basilius.

Dota 2‘s Diretide event was a lot of fun for players looking for something a little different. Some heroes were way more useful than others, but it was fun. The Greeviling is very much the same in that it’s just for fun! And item farming. The best part of Diretide was item farming.

The Greeviling puts players against each other and special jungle Greevil camps. Clearing a Greevil camp nets players a point and a present. The team that reaches 11 points wins the match and receives a gift. The losing team receives a gift that a Greevil sat on. I’ve found that the losing, squished gifts are most often with essences and coal. Farming for items isn’t so easy this time around. Sad face.

The Polycount winners are being announced during the Frostivus event as well, and some of the winners are really impressive. You can check out the winners so far on the official Dota 2 blog.

Another holiday, another Dota 2 event. Here’s to hoping the game comes out of beta in 2013. I’ve got my eye on you, Gabe.
