The Ultimate Fighting Game Fan Christmas Gift

Posters are for dorm rooms, this is what a grown up nerd hangs on his wall.

So if there are any readers out there wondering what to get their favorite GameSkinny writer (me) for Christmas; get those credit cards out now. While Nintendo has gone green for the Year of Luigi, the folks at Capcom have been doing a year long celebration for Street Fighter‘s 25th anniversary.

To cap off the celebration (get it? Capcom… ah nevermind), they are teaming up with art dealership Cook & Becker to bring a series of museum-grade quality art prints and collections of original game and concept art. The list of artists includes Akiman, CRMK, Kinu Nishimura, Ikeno, Dai-Chan, Edayan and Shoei… with Shinkiro surprisingly missing.

If you hang a print of a video game girl in a fancy frame, it’s totally not nerdy at all.

Capcom’s artists are frankly the best the video game industry has ever seen. Cook & Becker assures these aren’t those ink jet prints that guy was selling in the alley behind Gamestop.

All the prints are hand-numbered museum-grade Certified Art Giclees™ and come with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Street Fighter’s Executive Producer Yoshinori Ono.

Even if you are not a fan of fighting games or Street Fighter (in that case something is wrong with you); you should still check out the Cook & Becker website that has prints from many other game series as well… I spotted some beautiful Mirror’s Edge prints. The prints are also pretty reasonably priced, averaging around the price of a high quality fightstick ($200).

The Street Fighter prints go on sale today and will start shipping in January with a second set of Street Fighter IV prints coming next year.

The timing is perfectly aligned with this weekend’s Capcom Cup. In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Street Fighter, all the best players from across the globe are duking it out in San Francisco.

TeamSp00ky will be streaming the entire tournament when it kicks off on Saturday morning at 10am West Coast time. If Chris “G” Gonzalez manages to win Capcom Cup, I suggest we all chip in and send him this Sakura print
