The Witcher Showrunner Responds to Fan Requests for More Mark Hamill

While casting hasn't begun yet, Lauren Hissrich is keen on the idea of the Star Wars actor joining the Witcher TV universe.

The chances of the original Luke Skywalker actor and long-time Joker voice actor Mark Hamill joining the cast of the second season of The Witcher just shot up thanks to a fan campaign.

After the notion of Hamill playing Geralt’s mentor, Vesemir, caught on via social media, the veteran actor posted this message on Twitter with the hashtag #CallMyAgent:

Fan speculation went off the charts when The Witcher Netflix showrunner, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, responded to the tweet with the side-eye emoji. After that teasing non-answer, Hissrich then issued this statement to IGN

Mark has always been of interest to me and interest to the project. We have not contacted his agent yet because we’re not casting the role quite yet, but that being said, I am loving what’s happening on the internet. And I’m loving all of the fan reaction to it. Obviously, we’ve seen what a huge fanbase The Witcher has, and to add that to a Star Wars fanbase… it makes my mind explode a little bit.

Aside from reprising his role as Luke Skywalker in The Rise Of Skywalker, Hamill most recently played the voice of Chucky in the 2019 Child’s Play reboot. He has additionally offered up his voice talents in a wide range of animated-film and video game roles in the last three decades, including Batman: Arkham Asylum, Kingdom Hearts 3, Yakuza, and, of course, Wing Commander

Geralt of Rivia is currently played by Henry Cavill in Netflix’s rendition of The Witcher, while Anya Chalotra portrays Yennefer. Stay tuned for more news on the upcoming second season.
