Tony Hawk 1+2 Remastered Could Have Microtransactions — But Not at Launch

One of last week’s Summer Game Fest reveals was Tony Hawk 1+2 Remastered, an overhaul of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and Pro Skater 2. It’s set to release September 4 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and it won’t have microtransactions — for a while, at least.

Jen Oneal, head of Vicarious Visions, spoke with GameSpot on the topic. Oneal said, “Everything that you see at launch is going to be unlocked with gameplay. We’re not planning on having monetization at launch.” However, she then added that more material could be included as paid content if the demand for it existed.

That could be almost anything, from new skateparks to more customization options. But given what we know about how Activision tried preserving as much as possible from the original games, it’s hard to say that whatever paid content Tony Hawk 1+2 Remastered ends up getting (if anything) will be anything too big.
