“I couldn’t believe it when I got onto the train and saw this guy that was supposed to be driving playing Farmville on his tablet.” Linares said.  He went on to say that the driver was opening and shutting the doors to give himself more playtime.

Farmville is a real-time, web-based game developed by Zynga.  It is available as an application on Facebook.  It has become by far the most popular game application on Facebook, with over 60 million players reported in November 2009.

The game consists of plowing fields, planting seeds and harvesting crops.  Depending on the crop, harvest time could be anywhere from a few hours to a few days.  There are also trees to plant and animals to take care of.

The passenger also commented, “Look at this, this is our security, this is our safety in the hands of this idiot who feels he would rather play Farmville.  Can you believe it? I wonder what his bosses will say when they see it on Facebook?”

Apparently his bosses were not impressed, as the driver was immediately relieved of his duties.
