Soon, in tandem with training sites like Fort Irwin, CA, Unreal Engine 3 will help military members train effectively before their deployment.

IPKeys Technologies, a government contractor, has attained a license to use the engine for I-GAME — IED Gaming and Modeling Environment.

Unreal Engine 3 will allow for extreme scenic accuracy in training with quality 3-D renderings.  This will allow the war fighter to have a better idea of unique challenges presented by each locale. The overall aim is to reduce casualties, especially ones caused by IEDs, or improvised explosive devices.

IPKeys president Mark Pappas is proud to be developing this new training opportunity:

“We are extremely proud to offer the battle planner and Warfighter tactical, strategically-based, premier tools from the best sources – government and commercial alike. Specifically, deployed Warfighters who need reliable and trusted data can now use a lightweight platform to keep them out of harm’s way and allow for them to reach their objectives with the situational awareness they deserve.”

Unreal Engine 3 is currently used on Dishonored, Gears of War 3, and Borderlands 2, among others.
