As suggested by the trailer’s title, this video is all about the violence. The trailer displays a graphically impressive Action-RPG, showing off the brutal, visceral mayhem to be found in the game’s combat system. From Mortal Kombat-style fatalities to severed limbs and gallons of blood, Inquisitor – Martyr is set to fit right in to the unforgiving atmosphere of the 41st Millennium.

Utilizing a physics based engine, the trailer promises that every bullet and weapon strike will have realistic impact — slowing down enemies, crippling limbs and shattering armor. There’s also a targeting system extremely reminiscent of Fallout’s VATS, which allows for dismemberment and tactical control even in the toughest of battles.

Whilst further combat details are yet to be revealed, a look at the trailer shows hordes of smart AI enemies and a variety of Inquisitor classes and weapons with which to dispatch them.

Inquisitor – Martyr is the first Action-RPG set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe to utilize the classic top-down view; popularized by franchises such as Baldur’s Gate and Diablo. The first ‘Inquisitor Log’, shown below, focused upon destructible environments and tactical cover that invoke the strategic battles of Warhammer 40,000’s tabletop franchise.

Only time will tell whether Inquisitor – Martyr succeeds in fusing tactical action with A-RPG staples, but stay posted for further updates to the ‘Inquisitor Logs’.

Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr is slated for release some time in 2017.
