Originally scheduled to launch alongside the PS4 and XBox One in November, Ubisoft stated that they are standing by their belief that quality should, and will, come first.

“As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.”

“Our long-term goal is to win the next generation.” – Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot

Though we saw many advertisements that boasted confidence, such as the GTA V advertisement luring players to head to Chicago for Watch Dogs, it’s actually very reassuring to see Ubisoft taking the time to polish and fine tune their first next-gen venture.

Their upcoming racing title, The Crew, has also been pushed to 2014. The delay of both titles will hit Ubisoft financially for sure, but the company has lowered financial goals in light of today’s decisions.

Given the rocky starts most games have had this year, including that of GTA V, what do you think about Ubisoft’s decision to delay Watch Dogs? Do you appreciate the effort they’re putting in to a smooth launch, or are you frustrated that we won’t see this title until next year?
