Get ready for war Gears of War fans! The Xbox One codes for the backwards compatible versions of the Gears of War games will be sent out beginning December 1 for those who bought the Gears of War Ultimate Edition on Xbox One.
The games will be playable through the New Xbox One Experience update that will be coming on November 12.
Didn’t purchase the Gears of War Ulimate Edition, yet still want the backwards compatible games? Then fear not! You can still get the codes if you purchase Gears of War Ultimate Edition by December 31st.
Already have the digital or physical copies of the Gears of War games on 360? The games will be added to your backwards-compatible titles library for those who own digital copies of the games. For physical copies, you will need to put the disk into the Xbox One and install it. After installation, you’ll have to put the disk in the drive if you want to play the game.
Microsoft noted in a FAQ that, “All game modes, including multiplayer, will work just as they do on Xbox 360. Additionally, you can play with people who are either playing Gears of War via backwards compatibility on Xbox One, or on Xbox 360.”
Gears of War Ultimate Edition will also give players a chance to get early access to the multiplayer beta of Gears of War 4.
