Not all Wii U owners are happy with their purchase. Nintendo acknowledges this about their system. While some critics are clamoring for a new console release as soon as possible to replace the Wii U, Nintendo says no. Instead, they want users content with the purchase they made. This year, Nintendo will release the new Smash Bros and the new Mario Kart. Anything else new comes out at E3 come June.

Much like its gaming competitors, Nintendo has already begun to work on their next generation console. Developing these gaming technologies takes a good amount of time and development usually begins once a new console or device releases. President Iwata did state this:

“I of course believe that launching new hardware will not produce good results unless we first make sure that those who have already purchased our platforms are satisfied. We will continue to work hard to ensure that consumers who already own our platforms are satisfied, nd make sure that people will continue to see great value in our software, but I would like to say that we are preparing for our next hardware system, and in fact, we already have a clear idea to some extent about the direction our next hardware is going to take.”

Nintendo has hopes to sale 3.6 million new Wii U consoles this year. They will be focusing on the continuing sales of the 3DS as well. It will be interesting to see what the rest of the fiscal year has in store for the company.
