Wii U owners finally get Minecraft… sort of

Well, we sort of got our Minecraft game!

I feel the only reason I don’t play Minecraft as much as the kids do is because it’s not on any of my Nintendo consoles. Well, the wait is finally over.

Minecraft: Story Mode is a new episodic game coming to pretty much every platform available: Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, iOS, Android, PC, Mac, and the one that many thought would be counted out, the Nintendo Wii U.

The first of five episodes is said to release later this year and will feature the main character, Jesse, along with his friends as they go on a journey to find the Order of the Stone, a group idolized by many Minecrafters. This group was said to stop the powerful Ender Dragon.

This isn’t really the Minecraft everyone was expecting, but it’s the one Wii U owners are getting. The game is being developed by Telltale Games, developers known for their narrative games like The Walking Dead, Wolf Among Us, and Game of Thrones. Rather than a game where you overcome obstacles, you’ll be made to make some quick and difficult decisions.

Are you excited for this unexpected Minecraft spin-off or will you wait another few hundred years for the actual Minecraft game to make it to Nintendo consoles?
