Will Smite 2 be on PS4 and Xbox One? Answered

Will Smite 2 be available on previous gen consoles? We have the answer

Hi-Rez Studios has announced that their MOBA follow-up Smite 2 will be coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. However, if you’re a fan of the series and don’t have a next-gen console or capable PC, you might be wondering: will Smite 2 be on PS4 and Xbox One?

Is Smite 2 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One?

Eager fans will be able to join the alpha playtest in Spring 2024 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Since the previous generation of consoles will still be getting updates for Smite 1, will the sequel also be available? Unfortunately, Smite 2 will not be on PS4 and Xbox One.

Hi-Rez Studios confirmed the unfortunate news via the official Smite 2 FAQ page, saying that “Smite 2 is a next-gen native title.” Currently, there are no plans to bring the game to the PS4 or Xbox One, and with how Hi-Rez describes the development of the game in that one sentence, I’m not sure they could if they wanted to at this point.

Will the Original Smite Still be Available on PS4 and Xbox One?

If you’re worried that the original Smite will go away, don’t fret. The nearly 10-year-old MOBA will still be available to play on PS4 and Xbox One when the sequel releases. In fact, Titan Forge has said that Smite 1 will still be getting updates as long as there’s a strong player base. This means the teams will support Smite 1 and Smite 2 for the foreseeable future.

Smite 2 will be taking a huge leap with its graphics using Unreal 5. Because of this, previous-generation consoles will have a hard time running it well. However, if you’re playing on PC, as long as you have decent specs, you should still be fine. Titan Forge has not revealed the actual specs for Smite 2, so take this with a grain of salt. The current requirements on the game’s Steam page are for Smite 1 currently.

So if you’re a fan of Smite and were hoping that the sequel would be on the previous gen of consoles, you’ll be disappointed. Smite 2 will not be on PS4 and Xbox One. However, there will be an Alpha playtest for those with a PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X.
