Rocket League is getting into the spirit of the winter season.

Winter games events coming to Rocket League

Rocket League is getting into the spirit of the winter season.

According to a recent post on the PlayStation Blog, the most popular (and only) football with cars game, Rocket League, will be hosting several events that will offer a unique twist to the game’s mechanics. Starting on December 14, all Rocket League players will gain access to the “Snow Day” playlist, which will alter the field from Grass to Ice and change the ball into an oversized Hockey puck.

On top of that, players will be able to unlock unique holiday themed items to deck out their cars with, but only for a limited time until January 4th. The drops for the holiday items will be lower than standard items, but once you unlock them, you have them for good. And best of all, you do not need to purchase or own any DLC to take part in the events.

Here is a list of the items you can unlock:

  • “Xmas” Rocket Trail
  • “Blitzen” Topper
  • “Christmas Tree” Topper
  • “Sad Sapling” Topper
  • “Santa” Topper
  • “Candy Cane” Antenna
  • “Holiday Gift” Antenna

Developer Psyonix also mentioned that if you fail to unlock all of the items, you will have to wait a full calendar year to have another shot at them.

Quick Take: It’s always cool when developers do these little things to help build a sense of community for their games, especially when they are free. I’ve been out of the game for a couple of months now, but this might just pull me back in. Especially when they say I have to wait a full year to have another shot at the items. Game on, Psyonix.
