WoW 5.3: Changes to Professions and Gathering Made Easy

Mining and herbalism are now easy mode.

After what seems like years of player complaints about how hard it is to level up gathering professions as you level up a character, Blizzard has finally resolved the issue. In World of Warcraft patch 5.3, players can level up their herbalism and mining from start to end in Pandaria.

That’s right, you can now level your mining and herbalism in Pandaria without having to put up with the traveling between zones in Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Outland, or Northrend.

The way this works is mining at a low level in Pandaria will yield you not with what is inside of the node normally, but with Ghost Iron Nuggets. Ten of these nuggets can be combined to make one Ghost Iron Ore.

If you are leveling herbalism, you will get a partial herb as you level up from the start. Combining ten of them will give you a complete herb.

Just because it’s easier to level these in WoW 5.3 does not mean you will never have to mine elsewhere. If you want to get specific herbs and ores, you will have to go to where they were originally found.

I am pretty dang excited for this change. My main is currently an alchemist and a tailor. Now I can throw away tailoring and be a self-sufficient alchemist. WoW 5.3, you’re shaping up to be amazing.
