According to the NPD Group, the Xbox One was the best selling console in the U.S. during the month of October. This success for Xbox can be largely attributed to Halo 5: Guardians, which happens to have sold more copies than any other game in October.

Xbox One, along with PlayStation 4, is continuing to see more growth year over year, with game console sales arguably being stronger than they ever have been.

The NPD Group also reported that last-gen console sales are continuing to decline steadily, with a 66% decrease in sales compared to October of last year.

Certainly if there was any doubt as to whether Halo still garners a massive audience, we can see from these numbers that it does.

Whether or not the Xbox One can ever surpass the PlayStation 4 in sales remains to be seen, but it is a good sign for Xbox that they can still use Halo to help pull out a win.
