Xbox One will allow seemless downloading and playing of all games.

Microsoft has confirmed to Polygon that players of its newest console, the Xbox One, will be able to play their games while downloading, including digital titles available on Xbox Live.  This means that titles will be able to be played immediately after purchase without having to wait for the game to completely install, whether it is a disc-based game or digital.  Previously, only the PlayStation 4 was reported to have these kinds of features when both systems launch this holiday season.

For Microsoft, this is a step in the right direction. After all of the drama surrounding the E3 unveiling of the Xbox One and the subsequent petitions to first remove all DRM features, and then petitions to restore portions of DRM features, the road for the Xbox One team has indeed been rough.

With this announcement, Microsoft’s console is getting a good boost that may help it regain some former fans and at least close the gap that the PS4 currently has over the competition.

Both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are expected to release sometime in November this year.
