Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition Release Date Announced, AoE Definitive Edition on Steam

The Definitive Edition of Age of Empires 2 is just around the corner. And the Age of Empires Definitive Edition is finally on Steam. Wololo!

Age of Empires 2 is one of the most revered RTS games of all time. While players have put thousands and thousands of hours into the AoE 2 HD remaster that released in 2013, many fans have been anxiously looking forward to the upcoming Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition

FIrst revealed at E3 2019, AoE 2: DE is a re-remaster that brings 4K visuals to the game, as well as a remastered soundtrack. It also brings new content in The Last Khans, an expansion containing three new campaigns and four previously unreleased civilizations. 

At today’s Inside Xbox livestream from Gamescom 2019, Microsoft revealed that the Definitive Edition for Age of Empires 2 will release on November 14 for PC on Games Pass. 

For those who already own AoE 2 HD on Steam will receive a 25% discount on a Definitive Edition upgrade. What’s more, the game will feature crossplay between those who own the game on Steam and those who purchased it through the Microsoft store. 

Microsoft also announced that Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is now available on Games Pass for PC. It is also now available on Steam for $19.99. Previously, the game had only been available for purchase through the Microsoft store. 

There is still no new word on the mythical Age of Empires 4. However, it’s possible there will be an official reveal at Gamescom 2019, or perhaps later in Microsoft’s Inside Xbox conference.
