CD Projekt RED Has Multiple Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Packs Planned

Cyberpunk 2077 DLC is coming, including free mini-drops and bigger, paid expansions.

Cyberpunk 2077 DLC is already in the works, CD Projekt RED announced in the game’s launch trailer. The plan is for multiple types of DLC, as with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and the first round of free DLC is expected to drop in early 2021.

The Witcher 3 featured free “alternative looks” DLC packages giving Geralt, Yennefer, and Triss new costumes, which could be what CDPR has in store for Cyberpunk’s initial DLC drop, though we don’t know for sure just yet.

The message revealing the DLC is admittedly not easy to see in the trailer. It appears (very briefly) as a blurb between 2:08 and 2:09 below. It read:

Our planned expansions will take you even deeper into the world of Cyberpunk 2077, offering substantial, story-driven content that’ll give you tough choices to make through impactful narratives that you won’t soon forget.

But before we get there, we’ll first be kicking off our free DLC program in early 2021. Just like with The Witcher 3, expect an assortment of free DLC packs to begin hitting Night City, dropping a bunch of cool stuff that’ll inject even more life into the world of the dark future.

There’s currently no word on when Cyberpunk 2077 will receive those paid DLCs and “deeper” expansion content, but it’s not likely to release before Q2 2021.

The Witcher 3‘s two paid expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, refined the base game’s formula and offered some of the most memorable quests and locations in the entire story for just $9.99 and $14.99 respectively. If they’re anything to go by, the wait for Cyberpunk 2077‘s DLC expansions will be worth it.
