Call of Duty: Ghosts Drops Installation to 40GB

Infinity Ward reduces installation size by 20%, still a huge game.

Previous estimates for the Infinity Ward game Call of Duty: Ghosts announced that the PC version of the game would require a minimum of 50GB of hard drive space and 6GB of RAM, as well as a few other specs.

However, Infinity Ward announced today that some specs have been brought down (a bit) to make the game playable on more conservative PC’s.

The new specs for COD: Ghosts include a reduction of installation size down 20% to a 40GB hard drive requirement, and a few other changes. Below are some of the system requirements for the newest Call of Duty game:

  • OS: Windows 7 64-Bit/ Windows 8 64 Bit
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHZ/ AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4 GHZ or better
  • Memory: 6 GB RAM
  • Hard Disk Space: 40GB
  • Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 / ATI Radeon  HD 5870 or better

The console requirements still sound like they’re the same, with a 50GB download reported on the PS4 release, but hopefully the 40GB download for the PC will lower the amount of wait time before the user can play the game, and will open the field for a few more consumers to purchase the game.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is due to be released November 5 for all current gen consoles, as well as PC, and will be released alongside the PS4 and Xbox One, which will debut late next month.
