The Sims 4: How to Make a Science Baby

A Science Baby is a quick and affordable option for Sims not interested in romance in The Sims 4.

The recent infant update to The Sims 4 added a new way to add a little bundle of love to your households: Science Babies. Instead of going the WooHoo route or adopting, you can now create science babies using an individual Sim’s genetic material or by having a friendly Sim help out.

Some players of The Sims have jumped through more hoops than they’d like to admit to get their Sims pregnant, building rocky relationships or initiating WooHooing with Sims they may not quite want their Sim to go to those lengths with. The new Science Baby option allows you to skip the frustrating bits if that’s the route you’d like to take.

How to Have a Science Baby in The Sims 4

Having a baby is a big deal, but having a Science Baby is a bit less so from an actual conception perspective. The cost is a flat 1,200 Simoleons whether you’re having your Sim create a Science Baby by itself or with a friendly Sim.

Have your Sim crack open its phone and go to the Services tab to find two relevant options just below Call Fire Department:

  • Have Science Baby With…: This option allows you to select a Sim the calling Sim is friends with to lend their genes to the process.
  • Have Science Baby as Single Parent: This option only requires the Sim in focus, and requires no further input from other Sims.

This also totally skips pregnancy, making this a more than viable option for Sims with busy careers or social lives who you don’t necessarily want to be pregnant for a time.

You’ll want to have a crib ready for once your Sim gets home for the baby to rest in, and get ready to add plenty of other baby-oriented furniture pieces to help them grow up right through their toddler and childhood days.

That’s all you need to know about how to make a Science Baby in The Sims 4, and there’s plenty more to find out about between the recent base game patch and Growing Together expansion pack.
